It all started in 2020 as a COVID hobby in our North Carolina basement. Our passion for learning and making as a family went to the next level with 3d printing, laser cutting, arduino electronics, cricut making, leather working, quilting, pottery, and more. Now we want to invite other families on the journey to explore making together!
Our WHY is to inspire and equip families to explore making together.
Why we started our makerspace 3 years ago was pretty specific. It was COVID and I have a very busy job leading a company that I founded over a decade ago, I was traveling internationally a lot. All of a sudden I wasn’t traveling or even commuting to and from the office, I was just always at home with my family. I have never had time for hobbies but all of a sudden I had some margin so I bought a 3D printer, an Ender 3 v2 and started playing around. Then I bought a resin printer and a cheap laser engraver and then a Cricut maker and we started making t-shirts as a family. Then we helped my 12 year old son start an Etsy store where he sold personalized kids apron sets. It has just continued to snowball from there and we have deeply enjoyed learning and making things together as a family. Making has been vital to my mental health the last 3 years with the pandemic lockdown, it has been a much needed outlet. My faith, quality time with my family, my mental health … so many things wrapped up in these new maker hobbies.
Now we are looking for other families to join the journey to explore making together … more coming soon, stay tuned!
